Tell Me What You Think!

I'm thinking about entering this in the juried art show at the library next month. The theme of the show is "cultural canvas" - characteristic features of everyday life. What do you think?

*Emera Bags

I am once again trying to win a camera bag. I know it's unlikely, but a girl can dream! These bags from *Emera (check them out at: http://www.emerabags.com/) are of course fabulous and they're being given away at

Backdoor Palisade

I've driven down this alley bunches of times, but never noticed this wall/doorway until I walked down the alley to avoid the crowds at the farmers market.

Library Art Show

I'm thinking of submitting an entry. I'm just not sure what it will be. The theme is cultural canvas and they're looking for something that depicts everyday life. Guess I better starting taking some pictures. :)

Meet Puck

This is Puck. He's my parents' cat. I adore him - he merely tolerates me (sometimes when the mood strikes him.)

He's one of my favorite subjects because he's so cute and I have more or less endless access to him. I'm not sure he cares for this arrangement, but every once in awhile he'll pose for me...

Flower as Metaphor

I took this on the side of the Bookcliffs earlier this month when I went hiking with two of my very good friends, Mallory and Lori. These pretty little purple flowers were struggling to survive on the side of this cliff in such an inhospitable climate. I've been thinking a lot this past week about the struggles we all go through and how we each have our crosses to bear, so to speak. And it's not about what we're faced with, it's how we handle it, the choices we make along the way, lessons we learn from those choices, and our relationships with the people in our lives.

I was going to tie this back into the flower thing, but I got hungry and lost my train of thought. Anyway, I'm feeling very philosophical tonight. And I guess what I really wanted to say is that it takes a lot of strength to face the tough things in life (which can be different for everyone, obviously) but it's important to be true to yourself and mindful of those you care about and who care about you. I've really come to realize that I have a group of strong women friends and I really love and appreciate each of you!!! And it's due in part to my friendship with you that I can be a blooming flower on a barren hillside. (ha ha! victory over the metaphor is mine!) I sooo need to go to bed.

It's My Blog, I Do What I Want!

I haven't posted here in awhile. I was putting pressure on myself to make it all about the photos and my attempt to become a pro photographer. But you know what? To quote Cartman, "I do what I want!" Who doesn't love a good Cartman quote? :-) Besides, this is the evolution of Molly - there's a lot more to me than snapping pictures!

Anyway, I'm setting some new goals. Mainly that I am going to post a photo here at least once a week. And it doesn't have to be a work of art. It will be something I like and am proud to have captured (I want to say on film, but it's not really film cuz it's digital. On megapixels?)

And sometimes I'm just going to talk about stuff because I can. And sometimes I'm going to link to stuff that I think is cool. Like free giveaways or friends' blogs if I think there's something you should see. Because I can. It's gonna be awesome!! So, stay tuned!

San Diego

My good friend Julie and I took a trip to San Diego last week and had such a fantastic time! I've uploaded just a couple pics here and will put more up later.

This little "art town" as Julie and I called it because can't remember what it's actual name was, is near Balboa Park and the Zoo. We stumbled upon it as we were exploring. It was so colorful and just a neat little place.

Flamigos at the San Diego Zoo. They were really fun to watch!
